TLDR: New York City Department of Consumer and Worker Protection has finalized the rules to regulate the use of AI-powered, "automated employment decision tools" (AEDT) in hiring. These rules will take effect on July 5, 2023.

  • Employers and employment agencies are required to notify employees and job candidates when AEDT are being used to evaluate them and undergo bias audits.
