TLDR: Humane CEO Imran Chaudhri demoed a wearable device developed by his AI-powered startup during a TED Talk. The screenless device uses a combination of voice and gestures for input and can project information onto nearby objects, eliminating the need for a smartphone to operate.
During the presentation, Chaudhri demonstrated the device's translation capabilities, showing the device translating his voice into French. He also answered a phone call from his wife, with the call information appearing as a green image projected onto his hand. According to Chaudhri, the device is a new kind of wearable platform built entirely from the ground up for artificial intelligence.
Humane has raised $230 million, including $100 million in March, from investors such as Microsoft, LG Technology Ventures, Qualcomm Ventures, and OpenAI CEO and co-founder Sam Altman.

TLDR: British semiconductor and software design company, Arm, is developing its own chip to showcase its designs, aimed at attracting new customers and fueling growth following a blockbuster IPO later this year.
The company traditionally sells its blueprint designs to chip manufacturers but hopes that the prototype will allow it to demonstrate the power and capabilities of its designs to the wider market.
Arm has formed a bigger team to execute the effort and is targeting the product at chip manufacturers more than software developers. It has built a new “solutions engineering” team that will lead the development of these prototype chips for mobile devices, laptops, and other electronics.

💰 Funding Alerts
Halcyon, the first cyber resilience platform designed to defeat ransomware attacks, has raised $50 million in a Series A funding round led by SYN Ventures (Jay Leek, Managing Partner), with additional investment from Dell Technologies Capital and Corner Capital, among others.
The platform combines proprietary AI/ML engines and advanced prevention engines to detect and block ransomware.
The funding will accelerate the development and adoption of Halcyon's platform to make ransomware unprofitable and enable resilient enterprises globally.
Weaviate, the developer of the AI-native Weaviate vector database, has raised $50 million in a funding round led by Index Ventures (Erin Price-Wright, Partner) and Battery Ventures (Dharmesh Thakker, General Partner).
Weaviate's vector database is essential to the growth of AI applications, including generative AI, allowing developers to generate, store, share, and search millions or even billions of vectors in real-time.
Weaviate aims to expand its team and accelerate the development of its open-source database and new Weaviate Cloud Service to meet the growing demand for AI application development.
Certn, a background screening company that uses machine learning and artificial intelligence to create predictive applicant profiles, secured $30 million USD in Series B funding, with $29.5 million USD coming from Export Development Canada (EDC), bringing its total funding to over $114 million USD.
Its platform offers faster and easier background checks with 24/7 customer support and fast results from global databases.
Certn plans to use the money to expand its online background screening technology to global markets and move from a Series B startup to a Series C startup.
Consensus, a search engine that uses AI to provide accurate and unbiased scientific research results by prioritizing sources' authority, raised $3 million in a seed funding round, with backing from Tim Draper of Draper Associates.
They have also partnered with OpenAI to develop a customized version of GPT-4 to generate plain-language summaries of their results.
The company plans to use the funds to continue improving its platform and revolutionizing scientific web search by disrupting the $200 billion global industry.
