Another absolutely packed week in AI. Even more major companies had huge AI releases.  Big announcements came from NVIDIA, OpenAI, Github, Adobe, and Canva, just to name a few. We may also end up looking back on this week as the moment our species realized the very first versions of Artificial General Intelligence.

  1. Character.AI is a conversational AI technology company that uses large language models and deep learning algorithms to provide personalized artificial intelligence experiences. The company just officially announced that they raised $150 million in a Series A funding round led by Andreessen Horowitz (Sarah Wang, General Partner), w/ participation from Nat Friedman, Elad Gil, SV Angel, and A Capital. 

  2. Tavus, an AI-generated video company based in San Francisco, raised $6.1 million in seed funding led by Sequoia Capital, w/ participation from Y Combinator, Accel, and Lightspeed Venture Partners. Tavus allows users to create thousands of personalized versions of a single video 

  3. Unlearn.AI, a machine learning platform that creates "digital twin" profiles of patients in clinical trials, has raised $15 million in funding from Radical Ventures and Wittington Ventures, valuing the startup at $265 million. Unlearn lowers costs for drug developers with their “digital twins” by reducing the number of enrollments needed for clinical trials.

  4. OP3N, a web3 AI-powered platform that bridges the gap between Web 2.0 and web3 using blockchain and decentralized technologies, has raised $28 million in a Series A round led by Animoca Brands, w/ participation from Dragonfly Capital, SuperScrypt, Creative Artists Agency, Warner Music Interactive, NBA player Russell Westbrook, and many more. 

  5. Artera, a precision medicine company that develops AI-based cancer tests, has launched publicly with $90 million in funding from investors Johnson & Johnson, Marc Benioff, and Koch Disruptive Technologies. The company's AI-based predictive and prognostic cancer tests provide risk stratification and prediction of therapeutic benefit. Their flagship product is the ArteraAI Prostate Test, the first test to predict therapy benefits in localized prostate cancer. 

  6. Viz.ai uses AI to expedite disease detection and inform critical care decisions. The company received $40 million in growth capital financing from CIBC Innovation Banking. 

  7. Adeptia, a B2B data integration and business data exchange company, has raised $65 million in a strategic growth investment round led by PSG. The company uses AI-driven self-service data management to simplify and speed up data integration between businesses and applications. 

  8. Numbers Station, an intelligent data stack automation platform that allows users to leverage AI for data transformation tasks, raised $12.5 million in a Series A round led by Madrona, with participation from Norwest Venture Partners, Factory, and Jeff Hammerbacher. .

  9. Vital is an AI-driven digital health company that uses NLP and AI to provide patients with educational content during their emergency department and inpatient visits. The company recently raised $24.7 million in Series B funding, bringing its total funding to over $40 million. The funding was led by Transformation Capital, with participation from Threshold Ventures and Aaron Patzer. 

  10. Workera is a skill development platform that diagnoses an organization's skills to empower leaders to make better talent development decisions. The platform uses deep learning to deliver personalized assessments and learning plans for employees. Workera raised $23.5 million in Series B funding, led by Jump Capital, with participation from NEA, Owl Ventures, AI Fund, and Sozo Ventures. 

  11. CodiumAI has raised $11 million in Seed funding co-led by Vine Ventures and TLV Partners alongside angel investors from OpenAI, Snyk and VMware. The company is developing TestGPT, its first AI model, and has announced the beta release of its generative AI-powered code integrity solution that interactively assists developers in testing their code..

5. AI-generated images of Donald Trump being arrested in Washington DC have been spreading like wildfire on social media. This is one of the first instances of false AI-generated news spreading like this and presents a perfect example of why AI-generated content needs regulation and why the public needs to be wary of AI-generated misinformation.
