TLDR: Facebook's security teams have detected and disrupted nearly 10 new malware strains and more than 1,000 domains, including those posing as ChatGPT browser extensions, according to the company's quarterly threat report.
These malware families target people through phishing emails, malicious browser extensions, ads and mobile apps and various social media platforms.
Malicious groups often target the personal accounts of people who manage or are connected to business pages and advertising accounts, aiming to run unauthorized ads from compromised business accounts across the internet.
Threat actors may design their malware to target a particular online platform, including building in more sophisticated forms of account compromise than what you’d typically expect from run-of-the-mill malware.

TLDR: US microchip export controls have only minimal effects on China's tech sector, with Nvidia producing variants of its chips for the Chinese market that are slowed down to meet US rules.
The rules have restricted shipments of chips that have become the global technology industry's standard for developing chatbots and other AI systems. Even the slowed Nvidia chips represent an improvement for Chinese firms.
While the U.S. strategy is to slow China's progress in high-tech without hurting U.S. companies, AI researchers are trying to slim down the massive systems they have built to reduce the cost of training products and the number of chips needed.

TLDR: Microsoft's Azure cloud server unit plans to sell a dedicated cloud version of ChatGPT later this quarter to win over customers worried about data security.
The version will run on dedicated cloud servers to give customers peace of mind that their proprietary information won't leak to the main ChatGPT system, but it could cost as much as 10 times what customers pay to use the regular version.

TLDR: Uber has filed for a patent on technology that uses AI to predict users' ride or meal delivery needs based on their sensor, app usage, and profile data.
The technology, called "pre-request matching," could match a driver with a job and tell them where they need to be before the user even requests a ride.
Uber uses AI in other ways to personalize and improve the user experience, such as predicting arrival and delivery times. Other companies like Netflix, Meta, and Visa also use AI to customize user experiences.
