TLDR: Microsoft has launched Security Copilot, which uses generative AI to detect and respond to cybersecurity threats. The product will use Microsoft's extensive threat intelligence to augment the work of security professionals.

  • Security Copilot aims to simplify complexity and amplify the capabilities of security teams by summarizing and making sense of threat intelligence.

  • The product continually learns using OpenAI's models and improves to ensure that security teams are operating with the latest knowledge of attackers, their tactics, techniques, and procedures.

The Big Picture: Microsoft did not go into depth about how generative AI is integrated into Security Copilot. It also doesn’t address the ongoing concern of these GPT tools hallucinating and producing incorrect information. Seems like that would be an important concern to address when it comes to integrating these tools into cybersecurity services. It’ll also be interesting to see what happens when OpenAI powered cyberdefense meets malware that was made with the help of GPT-4.

TLDR: Goldman Sachs suggests that about two-thirds of desk jobs are exposed to AI, and bots can do between a quarter and half of the workload. Anyone whose job can be automated up to 50% by AI will likely have to find another job.

  • However, AI could also boost productivity twofold by freeing employees for more valuable work and creating new positions, and 1.5 percentage points could be added to US labour productivity which would be about double the current rate.

  • While 7% of workers may lose jobs after generative AI reaches half of employers, most will find nearly as productive work due to improvements in workforce efficiency, and the AI growth bonus globally could be 1.4 percentage points, representing almost $7 trillion in extra annual global GDP over 10 years.

TLDR: Cisco's Webex suite now includes AI-powered features like smart re-lighting and a "be right back" function for automatic messaging, background blurring, and muting.

  • Additional AI-based capabilities in Webex Contact Center provide insights and real-time coaching for agents, while AI-powered chat summaries and instant code generation have also been added to increase efficiency and productivity.
