TLDR: The release of Midjourney V5 promises significant improvements, including higher image quality, wider stylistic range, better image prompting, and improved accuracy and detail in images. The new version will also feature faster generation times, a zoom-out button to view generated images in their entirety, and support for other aspect ratios.
Additionally, Midjourney V5 will offer a higher image resolution of up to 1024 x 1024, with plans to eventually produce images of 2048 x 2048 size. Exciting updates on transparency and 3D features are also in the works, but the team is focusing on simpler improvements for now.
Midjourney has also announced the launch of its monthly magazine, which will contain interviews, AI art, and prompts to inspire creativity. The magazine is priced at $4 per month.

TLDR: OpenAI has chosen to partner with Stripe to commercialize its generative AI technologies, including ChatGPT, DALL·E, and GPT-4, using Stripe's suite of products.
Stripe Billing and Stripe Checkout power ChatGPT Plus and provide a flexible, pay-as-you-go option to purchase DALL·E credits.
Link allows OpenAI users to pay 40% faster on average by autofilling saved payment details, while Stripe Tax supports OpenAI to meet its tax compliance obligations as it expands into global markets.
Revenue Recognition helps OpenAI accurately close its books each month by managing disputes, refunds, and finances at scale.
Leading generative AI companies such as OpenAI, Runway, Diagram, and Moonbeam have turned to Stripe to quickly bring their products to market, ensure scalability with compliance, and reach a wider user base globally. Stripe has been using AI for some time to enhance its products and services, leveraging it to manage fraud and increase conversion rates.
Stripe took advantage of the GPT-4 beta program in January 2023 to streamline its operations and improve its documentation. As a result, Stripe Docs is now powered by GPT technology, enabling developers to ask natural language queries and receive condensed answers, freeing up more time to focus on building.
Stripe also recently signed agreements for a Series I fundraising round, raising over $6.5 billion at a $50 billion valuation. The primary investors include existing Stripe shareholders such as Andreessen Horowitz, Baillie Gifford, Founders Fund, General Catalyst, MSD Partners, and Thrive Capital, as well as new investors such as GIC, Goldman Sachs Asset and Wealth Management, and Temasek. The funds will be used to provide liquidity to current and former employees and address employee withholding tax obligations. To be clear, Stripe does not require the capital to run its business.

TLDR: The U.S. Copyright Office released new guidelines to specify when AI-assisted works can be copyrighted. The office clarified that copyright protection depends on whether AI tools generate results through “mechanical reproduction” via prompts or reflect the author's “mental conception”. The decision builds upon the office's previous ruling on Midjourney's generative AI system, which stated that the images it produced were not eligible for copyright protection. The Copyright Office stated that the eligibility would depend on how the AI tool operates and how it was used to create the final work.
The Copyright Office's decision reiterates that the human creativity involved in creating the final work determines whether copyright protection applies. The guidelines also suggest that popular AI systems are unlikely to create copyrightable work. The Copyright Office's ruling has significant implications for the use of AI-generated works in commercial and artistic fields, as it provides clarity on when such works can receive copyright protection.
