TLDR: OpenAI has launched an API allowing third-party developers to integrate its ChatGPT AI-powered chat interface into their apps and services. OpenAI says that the API can be used for more than chat interfaces and offers 1,000 tokens for $0.002, which is 10x cheaper than its existing GPT-3.5 models.
OpenAI is also making Whisper, its AI-powered speech-to-text model, available for use through an API (it’s open source so you can run it yourself as well) and says that it is significantly cheaper than using its existing language models.
They are introducing policy changes to increase data privacy such as switching from an opt-out to an opt-in model. A lot of companies have already started integrating OpenAI’s technology into their businesses including Snap Inc., Instacart, Shopify, and Quizlet.

TLDR: Sapeon, a South Korean startup creating AI chips for data centers, is set to raise funds in a round that would value the company at over $400 million. The company aims to compete with Nvidia, the current leader in the market of AI semiconductors, with its own product line to support the large amounts of data processing required for the growing AI applications market.
The startup plans to release a 7-nanometer AI chip this year, manufactured by the world's largest contract chipmaker, TSMC, which would bring it up to speed with existing technology. Sapeon’s CEO hopes to use the funds raised to support the development and launch of their new AI chip and further establish the company in the industry.

Quantifind has raised $23 million in funding to expand its AI-powered financial crimes risk management solutions. The funding round was led by DNS Capital, with participation from Citi Ventures, US Venture Partners, Valor Equity Partners, and S&P Global. The company plans to expand its global footprint, enhance its solutions for financial crimes investigation, and grow brand recognition.
SESAMm is a company that uses big data and natural language processing to provide governance, sentiment, and thematic analytics by analyzing over 20 billion articles and messages for private equity firms, investment managers, and corporates globally. They have raised €35 million (USD 37 million) in a Series B2 funding round led by Elaia (Pauline Roux, Partner at Elaia) and Opera Tech Ventures with aims to expand into U.S. and Asian markets and hire talent for sustainability, technology, sales, and marketing.
Equisoft, a global digital solutions provider to the financial industry, has received $125 million in equity investment, with $70 million from Investissement Québec and the government of Québec, and the rest from long-time investment partners EDC and Fondaction. The funding will be used to expand globally and focus on digital transformation using AI and machine learning to offer data-driven predictions, reduce human error, and reduce manual, repetitive processes.
Hexa, a 3D asset visualization and management platform, has raised $20.5 million in a Series A round from Point72 Ventures, Samurai Incubate, Sarona Partners, and HTC. Hexa uses AI and 2D images to create digital twins of physical objects such as furniture and fashion, which can be used in websites, social media, and AR applications. The company plans to use the funds to expand its operations.
InsightFinder, an IT incident prediction and prevention technology company, has raised $10 million in Series A funding led by Silicon Valley Future Capital (Dr. Miao Hong, General Partner), with participation from several other investment firms. InsightFinder's patented technology uses unsupervised stream learning and pattern-driven auto-remediation to predict and prevent outages in complex distributed IT architectures. The company plans to use the funding to expand its team and enhance its technology to support its growing customer base.
Qwak, an MLOps platform that offers a fully managed platform combining machine learning engineering and data management tools, has raised $12 million in Series A1 funding from Bessemer Venture Partners. The company plans to use the funding to grow and expand its platform, which currently offers a feature store, model registry, tools for deploying models and monitoring them in production, as well as a data pipeline orchestrator, in a pay-as-you-go model that streamlines the entire machine learning pipeline.
