TLDR: OpenAI CEO Sam Altman spoke at Clark Atlanta University's "Future of Artificial Intelligence" event and mentioned last week's White House AI summit. One of the most important topics discussed was the possibility of laws that require AIs to reveal themselves, which Altman supports.
Altman stated that OpenAI is developing new ChatGPT models that respect copyright and creators will be paid if an AI system uses their content or style. But there was little mention of how the companies whose data has been used to train the LLMs to date will be compensated.
Altman expressed that while AI can make us better at everything we do, he does not think AI will "wake up and become conscious", and he is committed to reducing bias in AI.

TLDR: Google is set to announce updates on generative AI at their annual developer conference, I/O.
The company will launch a general-use large language model (LLM) called PaLM 2, which includes more than 100 languages and is Google's most recent and advanced LLM.
The company has worked on a multi-modal version called "Multi-Bard," which uses a larger data set and solves complex math and coding programs.
Google will also expand on its "Workspace AI collaborator," including discussing template generation in Sheets and image generation in its Slides and Meet products.
Additionally, Google will show advancements to "multi-search" for camera and voice, after last year allowing users to ask questions about what they're viewing in images.
Google's updates come amid fierce competition in the AI industry, with companies such as Microsoft also racing to incorporate AI technology into their products.
